Temporary suspension of public Mass
From this evening the Blessed Sacrament Church will not hold any public Masses due to the seriousness of the current Covid-19 Situation.
This decision has not been an easy one to make and it has taken a lot of thought and prayer to reach it.
This new strain of the virus is more easily spread and the message from the government is clearly stay home and stay safe.
We are very grateful to all the stewards who have gone out of their way for months now to create a safe environment for those coming to Mass.
I am sure that you will agree that the church is a safer place to be than a supermarket but the fact remains that people are leaving their homes to come to the church at a time when we are being told to stay at home.
Anywhere that people congregate, even socially distanced, has the potential to spread the virus.
Many of you have already expressed reservations about continuing to steward which we understand.
The closure will be reviewed at the beginning of February and all the parish will be informed of the situation.
In the meantime, please look at the parish website and Facebook page and the Parish News for updates.
We are so fortunate to have had the livestreaming equipment installed and Masses will be livestreamed most days on Facebook.
Please look out for confirmation of the times etc.
Keep safe and keep well
