Our Vision

Vision for our Parish

Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish is a welcoming, lively and inclusive faith community where all are known and loved, and inspired and encouraged to be disciples of Jesus Christ.

We are committed to uplifting worship, generous giving, serving those in need and the joyful proclamation of the Gospel.

I will make you a Light to the nations of the world
to bring my salvation to them too.
Isaiah 49:6

Blessed Sacrament Parish is inspired by the global movement Divine Renovation which is helping bring parishes from a maintenance culture to one of mission and outreach.

I invite you to read A Light to the Nations which was published at our recent Parish Vision Day. It outlines many of the things that have been happening at Blessed Sacrament in the last couple of years which have been inspired by Divine Renovation and our desire to become a more missionary community. At the Parish Vision Day we reflected on the question ‘What do I dream of for our Church?’. The feedback collected can be viewed at the following link: Parish Vision Day Feedback.

“Go therefore, make disciples of all the nations, baptise them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you.” Matthew 28:19-20

As a parish community we are commissioned, just as Jesus commissioned his followers in the Gospel of St Matthew, to go and to make disciples, to build up the Church and to teach the truth handed down to us. We strive to do this by enabling people to encounter Jesus Christ, to come to know him and to experience his Good News, that God loves us and wants us to live good and fulfilling lives. We want to accompany people on their journey through life, offering them hope and helping them to experience the joy and peace that only God can bring. We hope to strengthen people in their faith, giving them confidence to proclaim it to the world.

We welcome people of all ages, races and genders. We commit ourselves to: worshipping God with the fullness of our hearts, our minds and our bodies; listening with open and compassionate ears and teaching the truth of the Catholic faith in all its richness and beauty; acting against injustice in our world; working alongside our sisters and brothers in Christ and with those of other faiths to build a world of tolerance and understanding; caring for those in need and nurturing, protecting and supporting the most vulnerable.

We want to make Jesus Christ present in the hearts and homes of our city; to be his hands, his face, his voice, so that all may know what hope his call holds for them.

Come and meet us, whoever you are, wherever you are, whatever you do, and join us in continuing to build God’s kingdom on earth.
